In this tutorial, I will show you how to fix the error Code 8024D00A with windows 7 update. Many people encountered this error recently. The problem always starts after recent upgrade of windows update agent to version 7.6.7600.320 sometime around August, 2014. I've been searching for solution myself. After hours of trying to solve it, I finally found the solution. Note: This tutorial is only for those who has installed windows 7 service pack 1 previously via windows update. Read carefully before proceed.

Step 1
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware . Scan for malware. Just in case.

Step 2
You need to uninstall windows 7 sp1. Go to control panel,
  • and then go to Programs and Features.
  • Go to View installed updates tab.
  • Search for '976932' or 'KB976932'

Uninstall.

The problem was windows did not recognize that you had SP1 installed. You should be able to access Windows Update again after uninstalling service pack 1 .


Problem with installing service pack 1
When trying to install service pack 1, you may encounter two of the following error codes:

0x80004005 - E_FAIL Unspecified error
0x8004a029

This errors can occur if the numerous of installed network filter drivers exceeds the specified limit. By default, Windows 7 has a limit of 8 and a maximum allowable limit of 14.

Service pack 1 just won't install

On the other hand, I just don't understand why would Microsoft upgrade windows update agent just to mess the whole windows update thing. It's extremely annoying.
